What we collect
- Your email address, to sign you in and (if you allow) send notifications. It is never shown to other members.
- Sign-in with Google. When you continue with Google, Google tells us your email address and confirms it is yours. We do not receive your Google password and we do not access your Google data.
- Your pen name, moth colour, interests, a short bio (shown to other members).
- Your contact handle (for example Instagram). It stays hidden and is shown to one other person only if you both say yes to staying in touch.
- Your pieces and finished pieces (images, audio, writing), and messages inside finishing rooms.
- Age confirmation. You enter your date of birth once so we can check you are 18 or older. We do not keep the date; we keep only that you confirmed it.
- Reports, blocks and moderation decisions, to keep the community safe.
How we use it
To run the service, show you pieces from other artists, connect collaborators, keep the community safe (including automatic image checks and human review), and contact you about your account.
Who can see what
- Other members see your pen name, colour, bio and pieces that have been approved.
- Only the person you collaborate with can open your full-quality original file, after you accept their request.
- Moderators can see reported or reviewed content and its uploader's pen name. They cannot see your contact handle.
Services we use
Database, sign-in and file storage: Supabase. Automatic image checks: Sightengine (only the small preview image is sent). Sign-in emails: [EMAIL PROVIDER]. Website hosting: [HOSTING PROVIDER]. These providers process data on our behalf.
Cookies and storage
We use your browser's local storage only to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers.
Your choices
In the site menu under "Privacy and my data" you can download your data or delete your account. Deleting hides your pieces and messages immediately, erases your contact details, and removes your files and login shortly after. To ask anything else, email [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL].
Age
Porchlight is for people 18 or older. If we learn someone is younger, we will remove the account.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above.
